HDPE geocell (cellular confinement system)
Geoser geocell is a three-dimensional honeycomb panel made of HDPE strips. It ships folded flat, is stretched open on site and filled with soil, gravel or concrete to stabilise slopes, roads, channels and lined ponds.
How geocell works
Confinement
the cell walls stop the infill from moving sideways, so loose material behaves like a stiff layer.
Load spreading
the filled panel distributes wheel and foundation loads over a wider area of weak subgrade.
Erosion control
each cell holds its own soil, so rain cannot carry it downhill, and perforations let water and roots pass.
Material and production
Panels are made from HDPE strips welded at regular intervals in our plant in Ankara, the same plant that has produced HDPE geomembranes since 1978. Walls are supplied smooth and solid, or textured and perforated for better grip and drainage. Every panel is expanded and checked before it is folded and packed for shipment.
Installation in five steps
- Prepare and level the subgrade; lay a geotextile where the soil is fine or wet.
- Stretch the panel open to its full size, starting from the top of the slope.
- Fix it with stakes or anchors and connect neighbouring panels.
- Fill the cells with soil, gravel or concrete, slightly overfilling.
- Compact the infill and, on green slopes, seed the topsoil.

Applications
One honeycomb panel confines soil, aggregate or concrete so the infill behaves like a rigid, load-spreading mattress.

Slope protection
Stops erosion on cut and fill slopes and lets vegetation take root.

Geocell questions
What is geocell?
Geocell, also called a cellular confinement system, is a honeycomb panel of welded HDPE strips. Spread on site and filled with soil, gravel or concrete, it stops the infill from moving and turns it into a stable, load-spreading layer.
Which cell height should I choose?
As a rule of thumb: 50–100 mm for vegetated slopes and landscaping, 150 mm for roads, channels and steep slopes, 200–300 mm for heavy loads, very soft ground and retaining walls. Send us your drawings and we confirm the right panel.
How much does geocell cost per m²?
The price depends on cell height, weld spacing, wall type and quantity. The calculator on this page shows an indicative price per m² straight away, with volume discounts for larger areas; the formal quote adds freight to your port.
Perforated or solid walls?
Perforated, textured walls drain water between cells, let roots pass and grip the infill better, so they suit most slopes and roads. Solid walls are used where water must not pass between cells, such as some channel and concrete-filled applications.
How is geocell shipped?
Panels ship folded flat and expand on site, so a container carries a large area. We prepare export packing and documents and quote delivery to your port or site.
Can you also supply the geomembrane?
Yes. Geoser has manufactured HDPE geomembranes since 1978, so ponds, canals and landfills can get the liner and the geocell layer from one supplier in one shipment.
